Library Trivia

So, I'm not sure how many people really know much about the Linebaugh Public Library System.  Here's a few facts in case anyone is interested:

  • Linebaugh Public Library began in April 1948 with a gift of $5,000 from Henry T. Linebaugh in honor of his mother, Mattie V. Linebaugh.
  • Linebaugh Public Library System consists of Linebaugh Public Library (main library) in Murfreesboro, MGL (Myrtle Glanton Lord) Library located inside of Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro, Smyrna Public Library in Smyrna, Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library in Eagleville and a bookmobile.
  • The library system is funded by Rutherford County and the cities of Eagleville, Murfreesboro and Smyrna.
  • Our budget year runs from July 1 through June 30.
  • We are not employees of the county or the city but by a 14-member Joint Board of Directors consisting of a 7-member City Board and a 7-member County Board.
